Vision Bermuda has launched a fundraising drive to prepare the charity to ready its renovated headquarters to reopen.

The charity, formerly known as the Bermuda Society for the Blind, said major work on Beacon House is expected to be completed by the end of next month.

But a spokesman said: "To complete the final stages of the Beacon House renovation, we need to raise a further $90,000.

"With these funds, we will be able to fully restore and equip our building to service the blind and visually impaired in our community.

"We are incredibly grateful for the generous cash and in-kind donations that we have received thus far.

"Our capital campaign has received tremendous support from the Hamilton Lions Club/Lions Clubs International Foundation, members of the Board, and many private and corporate donors."

Anyone interested in becoming a "beacon of hope" by making a donation is urged to visit www.visionbermuda.bm for more information or call 292-3231.

The Bermuda Society of the Blind was founded in 1957, and has been based in Beacon House at the corner of Cedar Avenue and Dundonald Street since 1962.

The charity changed its name in 2018 to better reflect its mission to help anyone whose vision loss has impacted their day-to-day activities.
